Collection N1 is a series of textile works and garments developed through an experimental weaving process that integrates yarn with metal chains. The project engages with the legacy of the Bauhaus, where weaving was historically associated with female practice, while the working of materials such as metal belonged to a male-dominated sphere. Collection N1 reconsiders this division by introducing metal chain not as an applied element, but as thread. Once incorporated into the weave, the chain is held, directed and distributed by the textile structure, shifting the relationship between textile and metal from opposition to structural interdependence. The project questions the cultural hierarchies attached to materials and forms of making: which are understood as structural, which as decorative, which are associated with authority, and which have historically been relegated to craft. Each garment is programmed and hand-woven directly on the loom in its final form, so that textile structure and garment shape develop simultaneously.

Collection N1 è una serie di opere tessili e capi di abbigliamento sviluppati attraverso un processo di tessitura sperimentale che integra filato e catene metalliche. Il progetto si confronta con l’eredità del Bauhaus, dove la tessitura era storicamente associata alla pratica femminile, mentre la lavorazione di materiali come il metallo apparteneva a una sfera prevalentemente maschile. Collection N1 riconsidera questa divisione introducendo la catena metallica non come elemento applicato, ma come filo. Una volta incorporata nella tessitura, la catena viene trattenuta, direzionata e distribuita dalla struttura tessile, spostando il rapporto tra tessile e metallo dall’opposizione a una condizione di interdipendenza strutturale. Il progetto mette in discussione le gerarchie culturali attribuite ai materiali e alle pratiche: quali vengono considerate strutturali, quali decorative, quali associate all’autorità e quali storicamente relegate all’artigianato. Ogni capo è programmato e tessuto a mano direttamente sul telaio nella sua forma finale, in modo che struttura tessile e forma del capo si sviluppino simultaneamente.
